Unconventional Weight Loss Methods - September 19th, 2009

Now my dad being a psychologist, he thought it would be a brilliant idea to do hypnosis for weight loss.  He’s used hypnosis on himself and former clients before, and he has figured out how to get right to sleep that way.  Of course that leads to nobody else being able to get to sleep, because he snores like a bear.  But that aside, he thought hypnosis along with acupuncture, they have a new one where they stick a pin in a certain part of your ear, would be a brilliant idea.  This in mind, he went in and did both just as he’s done just about every fad diet out there.

At first, even though he’s a smart guy, he thought it was working.  He got an infection in his ear and had to disinfect with the acupuncture.  But he kept it in, kept going, and he insisted it was working.  This lasted for about a week before he realized it really wasn’t working and the placebo effect wore off.  I mean I hate to say it.  But these things don’t work. It’s like those tapes you put in at night to learn a new language or lose weight, thinking it will get to your subconscious.  It doesn’t get to your subconscious, it doesn’t help you to lose weight.  It’s just one of those things in life that you have to face.  Weight loss is never going to be easy, you have to take the legitimate ways to get there though: eating right and exercising.
